Throughout my career as a Fundraiser, Training Manager and HR Director with an international charity, I’ve learned the value of building relationships in the work place. I’m at my best working in partnership with my clients, discussing the brief, debating solutions and delivering the chosen one to achieve the desired result. I’m told I’m good at listening, then feeding back what I’ve heard with insight into the real cause of the issues rather than being distracted by the symptoms.
Clients stay with Sharpstone Skinner because of our combination of challenge and support. I particularly use this in coaching. I might challenge my clients on blind spots and support them while they work through them. In my work with teams I often use challenge to create break through moments yet always from a bedrock of support to drive the team to success.
I have a pragmatic streak in me. I don’t do flights of fancy although I love working with people who do. I offer a down to earth, sleeves rolled up approach which helps people shift their minds to the new world, adjust their behaviour and develop their skills. I use my experience as a manager and board director to bring wisdom, ideas, options and insights. But I always know there might be a better way, so I make sure I constantly keep up to date with the latest thinking.
My work brings me into contact with some great people who inspire me, impress me and make me want to deliver more than they’ve asked for.
