Coaching

At Sharpstone Skinner, we see coaching as a purposeful conversation - one that's deeply connected to your work, focused on real results, and balanced with support and challenge.

Our coaching is tailored just for you, based on your goals and the situation you're in. Usually, coaching programmes run for an agreed number of sessions, 1-2 hours long, designed to help you make meaningful progress and reflect along the way.

"Coaching is unlocking a person's potential to maximise their own performance. It's more often about helping them to learn rather than teaching them."
John Whitmore, Coaching for Performance

What type of coaching do you need?

Skills coaching

Ideal for situations where you need to learn and apply new skills. At first, the coaching is more directive with step-by-step guidance to help you get the hang of new competencies. As you start using those skills, the coaching shifts to more reflection, helping you adjust and grow with real-world challenges.

Performance coaching

Perfect if you're close to your goals but need some support to get there. This style mixes direct coaching with insightful questions that help you access your own insights, as well as suggestions and proposals if you'd like more direction and more of a mentoring approach. As you build confidence, we step back so you can lean on your experience and boost your performance.

Team Coaching

Just because you call yourself a team doesn’t mean you are one. Senior teams face the challenge of trying to square two roles: that of functional lead and as a member of the team that leads the function or organisation. And it’s difficult to know which hat to where when. Team coaching can help. We work with key teams who want to enjoy working together more, speak honestly and tackle challenges head on – as a real team. Our coaching creates a safe, supportive space for leaders to have real conversations, build trust, understanding, and shared responsibility, so difficult issues are faced and progress feels possible. At team coaching sessions, we support you to focus on real work and make decisions with confidence, moving forward together, not as a group of high-functioning individuals, but as a team of leaders.

Our coaching approach

All our coaching follows best practice standards. We work with you and, if it makes sense, your manager too so that we can set clear goals from the start. At the end of the coaching, we check back in to see how things have progressed and what impact’s been made.

Our coaching approach is built on our professional coaching training and qualifications, plenty of hands-on experience, and continuous learning, so you can be confident it’s both effective and up to date.

What your organisation gets

  • Braver Individuals

Ready to become more self-aware and show up with stronger, more effective behaviours.
  • Resilient Leaders

Who can solve problems, make clearer decisions, and take charge of their own growth.
  • Immediate Results

Tailored to you and applied straight to real challenges - helping you get results fast and with skill.

What you will achieve

With coaching from us you’ll:
  • Get clarity on the challenges you’re facing and figure out a clear path to move forward.
  • Understand what’s behind any unhelpful behaviours, so you can address them proactively.
  • Pinpoint what’s in your control and influence, helping you focus your energy where it counts.
  • Explore and practise the skills you need, reflecting on how they’re working to keep growing.
  • Review the results of your new behaviours and make adjustments to maintain momentum
